Agasta formosa

Agasta formosa is a genus of leaf beetles in the subfamily Chrysomelinae distributed in South China and Indo-Malayan region.

This is the type species of the genus Agasta described by Hope in 1840, which was monotypic genus then. Now it has one more species Agasta annamica. Both species are fairly distinct morphologically.

I met this in Samsing in Paschimbanga. We do not see many records of this species, so if you have seen this please share the information with us.

Grey Count (Tanaecia lepidea)

The grey count (Tanaecia lepidea), is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South and Southeast Asia.

Three subspecies recorded from India, T. l. miyana in peninsular India and T. l. lepidea and T. l. sthavara in the North Eastern India.

The males of this species are observed to be territorial like few Nymphalidae members. Typically they perch on a branch of trees and chase flying insects flying bye.  

I met this one at Suntaleykhola in Samsing, in Paschimbanga.
