Luna Moth (Actias luna)

Luna Moth (Actias luna) is a moth in the family Saturniidae. It has a wingspan of up to 114 mm (4.5 in), making it one of the largest moths in North America. It is distributed in Eastern North America, east of the Great Plains.

In Canada there is only single generation every year but in southern parts there are three generations. Females lay 400-600 eggs. The caterpillars are highly polyphagous and feed on variety of tree species. I seen this one in Kansas and multiple times in Florida.
